Jeanne Barrett began studying the Alexander Technique in NYC in 1984. She joined a non-affiliated training course (directed by Judith Isaacs, ACAT-NY) in 1985, and graduated from that course in 1987. After teaching for a year, she sought AmSAT membership through the Credentials Review process. She completed required training to AmSAT standards at ACAT-NY in 1990, and was fully certified by AmSAT in 1990.
Jeanne relocated to her home town of Seattle in 1993, and has maintained a full private practice since then. Her training course, Alexander Technique Center Seattle (ATCS) opened in January 2007 with full AmSAT approval.
Jeanne is currently Chair of the Credentials Review Committee for AmSAT, and welcomes inquiries into that process.
I currently chair the Credentials Review Committee for AmSAT. As I came into the organization via the Credentials Review process, I have a strong commitment to providing a means for non-affiliated teachers to become certified members of AmSAT through a process that offers the opportunity to be welcomed as equals in our organization. Please contact the AmSAT office for an application for Credentials Review.
I am happy to answer questions about the process of Credentials Review. The fact that I am now a fully approved Training Course Director is evidence that the Credentials Review process welcomes non-affiliated teachers as valuable members of our growing community.
